On 6th September 2022, World Cultural and Natural Heritage Trang An – Bai Dinh, Ninh Binh province was honored to be selected as the venue for the “50th Anniversary Celebration of the 1972 UNESCO Convention on the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage”. Especially attending this event was Ms. Audrey Azoulay – Director General of UNESCO. These activities are organized in the name of coordination between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism – Ninh Binh Provincial People’s Committee – Vietnam National Committee for UNESCO.
The complex of landscapes Trang An – Bai Dinh includes the main area: Bai Dinh Pagoda; Special National Monument Hoa Lu Ancient Capital; Special National Monument Trang An – Tam Coc – Bich Dong and Hoa Lu Special-use Forest. It is classified as a special national monument and recognized by UNESCO as the first dual world natural and cultural heritage in Southeast Asia on June 23, 2014. This becomes the pride not only for each Ninh Binh people but also the common pride of the whole Vietnamese nation. The initial project with only 50 hectares was later developed into a national project of up to 12,000 hectares.
